Reservations

College of Wooster SignWhen will I receive my reservation materials?

You will receive the reservation materials in early April. You may also download them from our Web site at alumni.wooster.edu/reunion. On-line reservations are not an option at this time.

What is the reservation deadline?

May 23, 2008 is the deadline. A limited number of event tickets will be available after May 23rd. These are processed onsite during the weekend in Lowery Center Room 119, on a first come, first served basis. On-campus lodging will NOT be available after May 23rd.

May I cancel my reservation and obtain a refund?

Refunds will be made for fees paid for fees and events if the Office of Alumni Relations receives your cancellation by May 23, 2008.

Weekend Activities

If I can only attend one day, which is the best to attend?

Saturday typically has the largest attendance, but Friday has many planned activities as well. The Class of ‘58 will begin activities on Thursday evening.

What should I wear?

Dress is casual; however, check your class events. You may want to dress up more for Saturday evening (coat and tie/dressy attire).

Will the pool, fitness center and gym be available?

Typically all of these facilities are available for alumni on the weekend. Specific hours will be listed in the updated schedule when you arrive.

Will there be an Alumni Choir to sing at the Sunday morning church service?

Yes. Those interested will gather for rehearsals. The schedule will be included in the registration packet.

Will I be able to check e-mail/have Internet service on campus?

An internet café is open on the ground floor of Lowry Center when the Center is open. Access to the Internet is not password protected.

Food and Beverages

I have special dietary requirements. Will food options be available at events?

We try to plan variety in our menus. Vegetarian options are available at all events. Please note any specific allergies on your registration form and we will have our caterers prepare special meals for you. Because of the large number of guests on campus, we cannot accommodate dietary preferences such as low-carb diets.

Is alcohol served on-campus as part of the weekend activities?

Yes. The Alumni Association secures a permit, and is able to provide beer and wine at most evening events. Non-alcoholic beverages are always offered.

Facilities

Where will I stay on campus?

The 50-year reunion class stays, free of charge, at Luce Hall. Luce is just south of Scheide Music Center - in the block south of Holden. One of the few air-conditioned dorms, it features suites with double bedrooms and common space. Same-sex bathrooms are shared. See FAQ on handicapped accessibility, below.

May I stay near my friends?

Though we cannot accommodate all requests, please indicate your preferences on the registration forms. All parties should submit reservation forms with the same request.

I am coming alone. Will I have to room with someone?

No - we will NOT assign you a roommate unless you request to be with another alumnus/alumna. Please indicate your preference on the reservation form.

When is check in/check out of Luce?

Check in is on Thursday at 1:00. Checkout is on Sunday at noon.

When will I receive my key deposit refund?

If you turn in your keys while the Hospitality Center is open, you will receive your key deposit then. If you turn them in to the Office of Safety and Security, you will receive a check in the mail.

Are all events in handicapped accessible locations?

All events are accessible via ramps or elevators. The rest rooms are accessible with walkers. The common areas of Luce (not the rooms) are handicapped accessible. Golf carts, driven by trained students, are available throughout the weekend to assists guest in getting around the campus. Call the Alumni Office at 330/263-2533 to discuss accommodations for any special needs.

Are there special accommodations for families?

A few college-owned small houses are available for families with young children. Specify your needs on reservation form.

Are there off-campus housing options?

There are a number of lodging options in town, including B&Bs, a Days Inn, Roadway Inn, Best Western, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn. Make reservations early! View local hotels & motels.

Travel and Parking

Are shuttles available to and from airports?

You may reserve a spot on an airport shuttle to/from Cleveland only on your reservation form. The schedule is:

Thurs/Friday: Depart Cleveland Hopkins to Wooster 11 am, 3 pm, 6pm
Saturday: Depart Cleveland Hopkins to Wooster 9 am and 1 pm
Sunday: Wooster to Cleveland Hopkins 7:30 am, 10:30 am, 1pm; Arriving 8:45, 11:45 and 2:15 at airport, respectively.

Parking on campus

No parking permits are needed. During Alumni Weekend, all parking regulations are waived, except for handicapped/fire lanes. You may park in any legal space in a campus lot. City ordinances are in effect for street parking.

Arrival

Where do I go when I get to the campus?

Your first stop should be at the Hospitality Center in the main lobby of Lowry Center. There you will receive a packet with your nametag(s), ticket(s), an updated schedule and other information.You may also pick up room keys for on-campus housing.

What if I arrive after the Hospitality Center has closed?

You may pick up your key in the Office of Safety and Security, located in Culbertson House, across from Wagner Hall on Wayne Avenue.
