Endowment Gifts

Scholarships: ($30,000 and up)
With more than 69% of our students receiving need-based aid (over 1,000 students each year), the number of grants we make far exceeds the number of scholarships we hold. A gift of $30,000 or more will establish an endowed scholarship fund which will yield approximately $1,500 or more in scholarship support each year. This support could be a significant portion of the grant component of a financial aid package for many of our students whose levels of need are relatively modest.

Professorships: ($1,500,000)
An endowed Chair can be established with a gift of $1,500,000. The annual income earned on this gift is enough to pay a senior faculty member's salary and benefits while also factoring in growth at or above the rate of inflation. An additional gift of $100,000 to $500,000 would establish an endowed fund to accompany the Chair and to be used in support of the Professor's research or an educational program associated with the Chair.

A gift of $850,000 to $1,000,000 allows the College to bring to campus promising young scholars to address particular departmental or curricular needs and to serve as leave replacement for members of the faculty. In most cases, an Assistant or Associate Professor occupy such a position.
Endowed Lecture Funds: ($150,000 and up)
A gift of $150,000 or more would establish an endowed fund to underwrite the appearance on campus of prominent speakers or guest soloists.
Endowed Funds For Capital Needs, Academic Programs: ($100,000 and up)
Income from these funds would be used to meet equipment needs or the needs of a specific program on campus. Such funds, once established, would be administered at the discretion of the College's Board of Trustees.
